故事梗概

一爲許仲琳撰

據明舒載陽刻本《封神演義》卷二題署“鐘山逸叟許仲琳編輯”,此書明本唯日本內閣文庫藏一部,僅卷二有題署。卷首有邗江李雲翔撰寫序文,序中雲:餘友舒衝甫自楚中重資購有鍾伯敬先生批閱《封神》一冊,尚未竟其業,乃託餘終其事。餘不愧續貂,刪其荒謬,去其鄙俚,而於每回之後,或正詞,或反說,或以嘲謔之語以寫其忠貞俠烈之品,奸邪頑頓之態,於世道人心不無喚醒耳。由此可知,此書原本爲許仲琳撰寫,後經李雲翔加以增刪刻印。許仲琳是南直隸應天府人,始末不詳。

二爲陸西星撰

據清·無名氏《傳奇匯考》卷七“《順天時》傳奇解題”雲:《封神傳》傳系元時道長陸長庚所作,未知的否?張政烺在《〈封神演義〉漫談》一文中,據此認爲陸西星是《封神演義》作者,“元時”乃“明時”之誤。陸長庚名西星,是明代揚州府興化縣人,生於十六世紀後期,《陸仲遠詞稿序》說西星“以諸生讎學使賈禍”,有一定的造反精神。因“九試不遇,遂棄儒服爲黃冠”。

明施有爲萬曆中選《明廣陵詩》卷二十二收陸西星二十四首,有“出世已無家”之語。張政烺還考證陸西星出家後是呂岩道派人,所以在《封神演義》中出現陸壓道人,影射呂祖。

三爲王世貞撰

蔣瑞藻在《小說枝談》中雲:俗傳王弇州作《金瓶梅》,爲朝廷所知,令進呈御覽。弇州懼,一夜而成《封神演義》,以此代彼,因之頭白。蔣瑞藻注云引自“缺名筆記”。此說荒謬,不足爲信。

四爲明士人撰

清樑章鉅《歸田瑣記》卷七“封神傳”中雲:昔有士人罄家所有,嫁其長女者,次女有怨色,士人慰曰:“無憂貧也”...演爲《封神演義》,以稿授女,後其婿梓行之,竟大獲利云云。樑章鉅在《浪跡續談》卷。“封神傳”中仍談此事,並雲這“士人”是“前明一名宿”。

以上四說中前兩說影響較大,但一般刊印《封神演義》還是署名爲明人許仲琳。關於陸西星之說也值得重視和研究,張政烺、孫楷第先生對此說有精闢論述,朱一玄先生在《明清小說資料選編》中也對此說頗爲重視。
