定語從句是本單元的語法要點,是在1-8單元已經對該語法知識有所滲透的前提下安排的。本節課話題是讓學生體會音樂在生活中無處不在,體會不同類型音樂的特點,學會熱愛生活;能用簡單的定語從句形式表述自己的觀點。通過本節的學習,增強學生對複合句的理解,提高其對此句式的應用能力。

二、 三維目標

1、知識目標:

掌握本單元基本詞彙,學會恰當的使用引導詞that ,who

2、能力目標

1)掌握功能句“What kind of music do you like ? I like music that I can dance to . I love singers who can write their ownmusic.”

2)能夠自如地談論自己所喜歡的音樂和音樂家。

3、情感目標:

通過學生談論對音樂和音樂家的好惡,從而使學生學會欣賞音樂的美。

1)本節課的教學重點是學會並掌握先行詞爲物或者人時,引導詞“that ,who ”的使用方法。

Explain attributive clauses.

定語從句:在複合句中修飾名詞或者代詞的從句叫做定語從句。先行詞是“人”時,用關係代詞who引導,先行詞是“物”時,用關係代詞that來引導

I love singers who write their ownmusic

I like music that I can dance to.

a. that即可代表事物也可代表人,which代表事物;它們在從句中作主語或賓語,that在從句中作賓語時常可省略關係詞,which在從句中作賓語則不能省略。而且,如果which在從句中作“不及物動詞+介詞”的介詞的賓語,注意介詞不要丟掉,而且介詞總是放在關係代詞which的前邊,但有的則放在它原來的位置

b. which作賓語時,根據先行詞與定語從句之間的語義關係,先行詞與which之間的介詞不能丟

c. 代表物時多用which,但在帶有下列詞的句子中用that而不用which,這些詞包括all,anything, much等,這時的that常被省略

d. who和whom引導的從句用來修飾人,分別作從句中的主語和賓語,whom作賓語時,要注意它可以作動詞的賓語也可以作介詞的賓語

e. where是關係副詞,用來表示地點的定語從句

1. Hmm,depends which movie.

1) 本句省略了depends前的主語it和whichmovie後的從句部分we’ll watch,這是典型的口語表達形式。在口語和非正式場合,爲保持語言簡潔明瞭,交流者往往會省略彼此所知或邏輯上可明確推斷的內容。例如:

AnythingI can do for you?

我能爲您做些什麼嗎?(省略句首部分Is there)

Pleasehand me one of those books; I don’t care which.

請把那些書遞給我一本,不管哪本都行。(省略句尾部分you hand me)

2) Itdepends (on) who/ what/ how/ whether…是一個常見句型。當depend後接疑問詞及含有疑問詞的短語和從句時,口語中會省略depend後的介詞on,以求話語簡練。例如:

Itdepends what day you catch me, and at what time of day.

這取決於你哪天見我,以及見我的時間。

Well,as for this matter, I can’t decide for now. Depends whether or not your dadwill say yes.

嗯,這件事我現在決定不了,取決於你老爸是否會同意。

2. Ijust want to laugh and not think too much.

這句話中的to laugh和not think too much均爲動詞不定式,但後者在not和think之間省略了to。英語語句中當多個不定式結構並列使用時,to出現在第一個結構中,後面的往往會省略。再如:

Shelikes to sing, dance and hang out with her friends.

她喜歡唱歌、跳舞、與朋友們外出消遣。

3. Iprefer music that has great lyrics.

句中的prefer意爲“更喜愛;更喜歡”,後可接名詞、v.-ing形式或動詞不定式。如:

Iprefer the white bag. 我更喜歡那個白色的包。

Tonyprefers staying / to stay at home on weekends.

託尼更喜歡週末待在家。

此外,prefer還可用於句型“prefer ... to ...”中,意爲“喜歡……而不喜歡(勝過)……”。如:

Lindaprefers apples to pears.

琳達喜歡蘋果而不喜歡梨。

Iprefer reading books to watching TV. 我喜歡閱讀而不喜歡看電視。

4. Isuppose I’ll just listen to this new CD I bought.

仔細觀察下面例句中suppose的用法和意義,然後補全結論部分所缺的內容。

a. Weare supposed to get there on time.

b. Isuppose she will be back next year.

c. —Doyou suppose he will agree?

—Yes, I suppose so. / No, I suppose not.

a. Weare supposed to get there on time.

(1)觀察例句a可知,“被期望/要求做某事”或“該做某事”可用 __________________ 結構表示,含有必須、應該做某事之意,相當於should。

b. Isuppose she will be back next year.

c. —Doyou suppose he will agree?

—Yes, Isuppose so. / No, I suppose not.

(2)例句b中“suppose +that從句”意爲“猜測/假定……”,that可以省略,若爲否定句,和think,believe等動詞的用法一樣,應該否定____(主語/從句),即否定前移;例子c中對疑問句作肯定回答可用________________ ,否定回答可用No, I suppose not。

music是先行詞,that是關係代詞

man是先行詞,who是關係代詞

人 (n.) + who/that + 從句 物 (n.) +that/which + 從句

關係代詞who; that;的作用:

a. 做代詞,代替先行詞

b. 在從句中擔任句子成分:主語或賓語

c. 做連詞,把主句和從句連接起來

who / that/which 在定語從句中做主語時,

謂語動詞的單複數應與先行詞保持一致

III. Grammar

定語從句是指在複合句中作定語的從句,定語從句所修飾的詞叫先行詞。

定語從句通常放在先行詞的後面,由關係代詞或關係副詞引導。本課我們將學

習由關係代詞that或which及who引導的定語從句。

which,who, that 引導的定語從句

which,that 和who是定語從句中重要的引導詞。下面的例句是由which, that和who引導的定語從句。請同學們仔細觀察,然後補全結論部分所缺內容。

【例句】

1. Chinais a country which / that has a long history.

2. Thisis the book which / that my mother bought me yesterday.

3. Theman who / that is standing by the door is her brother.

4. Ilike the boy who / whom / that I met at the party.

【結論】

1. 觀察例句1和2可以看出,which引導的定語從句修飾的是____(人/物)。由例句3 和4可知,who引導的定語從句修飾的是_____(人/物)。

2. 由例句1和3可知,which和who在定語從句中可以作_____語;觀察例句2和4可以看出,which和who在定語從句中還可以作____語。

3. 觀察例句1和2可以看出,which在定語從句中作主語或賓語時均可由________代替;由例句3可知,who在定語從句中作主語時,可由________代替;由例句4可知,who在定語從句中作賓語時,可由________或________代替。
