abandon 拋棄，離棄。一般指完全和永久地捨棄某人或某物。可用於褒義，也可以用於貶義。書面語用的多。

The sailors abandoned the burning ship.船員們放棄了着火的船。

desert遺棄，離棄。指某人或某物無人問津，或在困難時或困境中被人揹棄。多用於貶義，有時可引申爲“失去”的意思。
