桑葉在天才的手中變成了絲綢;粘土在天才的手中變成了堡壘;羊毛在天才的手中變成了國王的華服。只要成倍地提升自己的價值,每一件物品都可以變得彌足珍貴。

Everything could be precious after multiplying the value a hundred fold. I am like a grain of wheat which faces one of three futures. The wheat can be placed in a bag and fed to animals; or it can be ground3 to flour and made into bread; or it can be placed in the earth, and grow until its golden head divides, _____ a thousand grains from the one.

我就像麥子上的一顆麥粒,面臨着三種命運。麥子可能被裝進麻袋,餵養動物;也可能被研磨成麪粉,做成麪包;還可能被播撒在土壤中,逐漸成長,直到金燦燦的麥穗結出成百上千顆麥粒。

I am like a grain of wheat with one difference because I have a choice. I will never let it grow under the rocks of failure and despair, waiting to be broken open and eaten by others. I will grow under sunshine and rain, and harvest at the time of maturity4.

但我是一顆與衆不同的麥粒,我有選擇的自由。我永遠不會在失敗和絕望的岩石下生長,等待自己朽裂、被吞食。我要在陽光和雨露的哺育下茁壯成長,在成熟的季節結出累累碩果。

堅持不懈Keep Going

Even when the road gets rough, you can keep going.

即使道路變得坎坷,你也能堅持前行。

A disappointing result will stop you only if you assume that it is supposed to stop you. However, you can just assume that all your results are encouraging you to keep going. After all, when you’re getting results of any kind, you’re making a difference. If the results are not the ones you like, you can make small changes to your efforts and greatly improve the results.

令人失望的結果之所以會阻擋你前進的腳步,僅僅是因爲你以爲它應該使你止步。然而,你還可以這樣認爲,所有的結果都是爲了鼓勵你堅持下去。畢竟,不論最後的結果是什麼,對你來說,那都是一種改變。如果那不是你想要的結果,你可以通過改變方法去改變它們。

Many things are simply not going to happen with just one attempt, three or even a dozen attempts. Yet any thing becomes possible with enough persistence. Keep going, and allow your efforts to build on one another. Keep going, and turn your disappointments into achievements.

許多事不是通過簡單的一兩次或者幾次嘗試就能成就的。然而,只要堅持不懈,一切皆有可能。堅持不懈,不斷努力嘗試;堅持不懈,讓失望終成輝煌。

You have what it takes to keep going, because all it ever takes is just one more step forward. Keep going, and work your way steadily to the richest rewards you can imagine.

決不放棄Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, when the road you are walking seems all uphill, when you want to smile but you have to sigh and when anxiety is pressing you down, you need a bit of rest, but don’t quit.

當諸事不順的時候,當你前行的道路變得異常艱難的時候,當你想微笑卻不得不哀聲嘆氣的時候,當焦慮壓得你喘不過氣來的時候,你所需要的只是短暫的休息,但是請不要放棄。

Life is unpredictable with its twists and its turns, and sometimes each of us learns. Don’t give up though the pace seems slow, because you can succeed with persistence.

生活總是跌宕起伏,會有很多不可預料的事情發生,但我們有時會從中學到一些東西。即使前進的步伐變得緩慢,也不要退縮,因爲只要堅持不懈,你就能成功。

Some strugglers often give up when they could capture the victor’s cup. They learn too late how close they are to the golden crown.

一些奮鬥的人往往在勝利者獎盃觸手可及的時候,選擇了放棄。當他們知道自己曾與那金色的皇冠僅咫尺之遙的時候,爲時已晚。

Success always can be achieved from failure, and you never can tell how close you are. It may be near when it seems so far. Stick to the fight when it hits you hard. It is when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

失敗往往是通往成功的必經之路,你永遠無法確定自己距離成功有多近。當成功看起來遙不可及的時候,可能就是它即將來臨的時刻。所以,就算失敗不斷地打擊你,也一定要堅持並與之搏鬥。越是情況看起來最糟糕的時候,你就越不能放棄。

Stop fearing failure, and enjoy it to the fullest.
