爲了英語能考出好成績，幾乎每個家長都使出渾身解數，把自己的孩子推到各種輔導班。浪費了大量的人力物力，還有時間。可這對邊遠山區的孩子公平嗎？外公所在的小學根本就沒有英語課，就是想上英語輔導班，也找不到地方。外公經常說：真不明白，爲什麼一個外國的語言卻決定着很多中國的孩子能不能上好大學，真是國家的可悲。是呀，農村的孩子到中學纔開始上英語課，我們卻已經在輔導班把初中的英語課程學完了。農村的孩子出生便倒在了英語的起跑線上，可悲，可嘆。

我不反對學英語，英語也絕不應該和我們的語文數學同比，可以和歷史，地理這樣的小學科並列，這樣既可以把我們的傳統文化發揚光大，也給了山區，農村邊遠地區孩子一個和我們站在同一起跑線的機會。

林禾從四年級開始就擔任班長的重任，直到現在，他都沒下過崗，由此也可以看出他不僅成績好，還辦事認真，從來不會對班主任老師的話“不屑一顧”。而他也是英語老師的好幫手，每當考試完後，她都會讓林禾去批改試卷。林禾的英語成績直到現在都沒有一次低於97分。而“唯一”能和林禾抗衡的.人，也就是我啦！但我每次都差他那麼一點點分數。

在上課之前，林禾總會讀上幾分鐘英語，他的口音極其流暢，英語從他的口中“涓涓流出”，幾乎沒有停頓，英語老師上課時總會語重心長地對我們說：“你們看看，林禾讀英語時可是初中水平……”
