The Chinese New Year has a great history. In our past, people lived in an agricultural society and worked all year long. They only took a break after the harvest and before the planting of seeds. This happens to coincide with the beginning of the lunar New Year.
The Chinese New Year is very similar to the Western one, rich in traditions, folklores and rituals. It has been said that it is a combination of the Western Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year. This is hardly an exaggeration!
The origin of the Chinese New Year itself is centuries old - in fact, too old to actually be traced. It is popularly recognized as the Spring Festival and celebrations last 15 days.
Preparations tend to begin a month before the date of the Chinese New Year (similar to a Western Christmas). During this time people start buying presents, decoration materials, food and clothing. A huge clean-up gets underway days before the New Year, when Chinese houses are cleaned from top to bottom. This ritual is supposed to sweep away all traces of bad luck. Doors and windowpanes are often given a new coat of paint, usually red, then decorated with paper cuts and couplets with themes such as happiness, wealth and longevity printed on them.

我們的新英語老師是一個既風趣又“兇殘”的一個人，可以說是一個徹徹底底的“兩面派”。她——便是我們的倪老師。
記得在暑假最後幾天，一個天大的壞消息將我驚得心底冷冰冰的，不禁讓我倒吸一口涼氣——我們的英語老師換了。而讓我更生無可戀的則是我們的新英語老師可是以“兇狠殘暴”聞名校園的。
在沒正式見面之前，我便對這位老師有所耳聞，幾乎所有家長都說倪老師是位很好的老師，是位教導有方的老師，更是位十分嚴厲的老師。
上課的第一天，我有幸見到了她。當她剛跨進門的時候，我一眼就看到了那一頭不算長的頭髮被束在後腦勺，那眼睛是炯炯有神，像一顆明珠一樣閃爍着光芒，她臉上的每一個表情都寫滿了她的喜怒哀樂，隨時可以吸引每一位同學的目光，活躍班級的氣氛，引領每一個人的情緒。眨眼間，她的身形像疾風一樣閃到講臺前，整個人看上去十分精明幹練。
開口幾句話就讓我們笑開了顏——“classbegin！”一句英文在教室裏迴響，那聲音果真是如雷貫耳，嚇得我們一個個呆若木雞。反應過來時，想起立卻又不敢起立，“難道我走錯班啦？”“這是八班吧？”說完便笑了起來，銀鈴般的笑聲讓我們也情不自禁地跟着傻笑，也有小部分同學小心翼翼地輕聲回答：“嗯。”“是八班。”不得不說倪老師的氣場真是強大！
報名字的時候，老師用洪亮地聲音喊着我的名字，我馬上起立，高喊一聲“到！”老師瞅瞅我，忽然問了一句“你熱不？”我不輕不響地回答：“不熱。”老師問我的原因是因爲炎炎夏日我卻還披一件春季的校服外套，我媽也讓我脫，可我卻死活不脫，因爲我真的不熱。說完老師就開始調侃我：“如果中暑了我可以幫你扭痧。”說着還做起了扭痧的動作，還真是惟妙惟肖，手指一勾，那兩根有勁的大拇指和食指便是狠狠一掐空氣，臉上依然掛着笑容。我的後背卻冒着冷汗，因爲我曾經嘗過這種滋味，簡直痛不欲生。我只能苦笑着，心裏想着：“這老師忒‘狠’了點吧？”
之後，老師拿出了一樣“致命武器”——一根結實的教棒。當我一眼看見那傢伙時，瞬間身形一抖，臉上的表情越來越不自然。她還讓我們猜這根棒子叫什麼名字，不一會，我的腦中便是靈光一閃，蹦出三個大字——殺威棒！心裏想着：“這名字怕是再合適不過了。”可惜人算不如天算，原來她真正的名字叫“哈利。波特”，那可是一根承載着無數學子們的恐懼、害怕的教棒，那教棒上早已染上無形的殺氣，是剎那能讓我們聞風喪膽的魔鬼！我的心瞬間跌落地獄，絕望的心情籠罩在心頭，面部不自然地抽搐着。
終於“叮”地一聲，下課鈴聲響起，可我們卻絲毫不敢挪動半分，直到老師從教室門口出去。走得遠遠的時候，才一把攤在椅子上，長舒一口氣，心裏的大石頭才終於落下。
我們的老師能輕而易舉地將我們的心情瞬間切換，像是在盪鞦韆，一會兒高，一會兒低，還真是位既幽默又“兇殘”的老師，真不知道是幸運呢？還是不幸呢？

老師給我取了個英文名字叫EASON，老師說我這名字很帥氣，歌手陳奕迅也是這英文名呢。第一節課的時候，我們學A——E的英文字母及數字0——5，還有跟大家打招呼的HELLO，EVERYONE，真有意思。
時間過的真快呀，30節課已經上完了。只剩下今天最後一節課了，是我們的成果發佈會，我們做了自我介紹，用英文的哦，還玩了很多跟英語有關的遊戲，我最喜歡玩的是：我是小小投球手，遊戲規則是小朋友們先要搶答問題，每組選一名搶答對的小朋友進行投球PK，只有一分鐘的投球時間哦，我邀請媽媽一起參考投球遊戲，我們兩個配合很默契，是全班投進球最多的一個，我一共投了12個，我真開心，平且發佈會結束我得了一等獎哦。
